Trinity is not just a soup kitchen and not just a day shelter. We offer plenty of great services to our community six days a week.
However, our schedules and services vary throughout the week, but don’t worry. Here is a quick guide to Trinity Jubilee Center’s services offered.
Lunch
We serve nutritious, different lunches every week from Monday to Saturday from 11 to 11:45 am. These will often include a meat, two sides, and either a fruit or a vegetable. For example, a typical meal may look like:
- Chicken breast
- Pizza rolls
- Pasta with sauce
- Italian salad with homemade dressing
If we do cook with pork, we always create separate lunches for those who cannot or choose not to eat pork.
Along with lunch, we pass out groceries, desserts, and even frozen meat to as many families as we can from our generous donations from Hannaford Supermarkets on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Day Shelter/Warming Center
Homeless members of our community are more than welcome to hang out in our day shelter, which is open from 7:30 am to 3 pm, Monday through Saturday. If you need to get out of the heat, the cold, or the rain, stop by.
Food Pantry and Diaper Drive (Thursdays)
Thursday mornings, we’re able to distribute prepared boxes of fresh produce, nonperishable food items, and other nutritious foods (cheese, fish, etc.) to hundreds of families in our communities. Families will need to sign up, which they can do day-of, and receive food every week and up to 50 diapers a month for eligible families.
Free Medical Clinic (Thursdays)
Thanks to the generous support of our local physician, Dr. Haines, we can provide some free medical checkups for members of our community, including for immigration-related exams. These are only on Thursday mornings and are on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can come in day-of to sign up!
Resume-Building and Job-Seeking Assistance
Refugees and immigrants looking for work in our community can stop in and meet our French and Somali-speaking Immigrant and Refugee Support Staff, Yasmine. Yasmine has helped hundreds of clients find work in the Lewiston-Auburn area, and anybody in need can schedule an appointment with her by calling or coming in.
Work Permit Assistance
Our Executive Director, Erin, can help refugees and immigrants apply for work permits, allowing them to work in the United States. This is often a difficult and lengthy process, so try to book an appointment as soon as possible, as Erin often books out for weeks in advance!
Other Services Offer at Trinity
Need to make a couple copies for a new job or work application? Need a mailing address? Are your bike tires flat? Do you have a general question? It never hurts to ask!
We do whatever we can in our capacity to help any members of our community in need. Come be a part of this great community by enjoying our services or volunteering with us. All are welcome here!
